Abstract

Toward the digitization of product development process to utilize the Japanese strength of design and manufacturing, The ICT strategy based on Engineering Process Integrated Architecture (EPIA) is important in the future that systematizes product planning, development, design, manufacturing preparation, production, purchasing, sales, as a whole consistently. This shows the core element which builds the thought by showing precedents. At the same time, this shows the current situation of product design and manufacturing and the trend of building PLM systems in the Japanese industry, and shows a guidance of systematizing the upstream development process in the future. According to those thought, this shows the way of Japanese design and manufacturing that should be so in the globalization, and shows also the way of building systems by the basis of EPIA in digitizing the process of product development and manufacturing.
