In the early stages of design, "desired" or "acceptable" performance is not defined under clear design information , and the design must be carried out under conditions of uncertain design information. Decision-making in the early design phase are also important because the result of the decision-making is used to define later design requirements, such as detailed design stages. In addition, if the design solution derived from the early design stage does not meet the required performance due to design changes during the design process, a design rework step will occur. This study proposes a decision support system based on set-based design that derives a feasible range of design variables in the early stage of design, where there is a lot of uncertain design information and design changes are likely to occur. The proposed system is also applied to an automobile damper model to confirm its usefulness.
