Abstract
This paper describes problems of sheave and rope caused by Pitch Circle Diameter (P.C.D.) difference. Traction sheave of elevator has P.C.D. difference between its grooves because of machining error, growth of uneven wear by elevator operation and so on. When traction sheave has P.C.D. difference, running radius of rope on each groove is different from each other, and it is suspected doing damage to sheave and rope. In this paper, we measure rope tension and rope slip etc. under several P.C.D. conditions that there are two grooves and two ropes on sheave, and we investigate the influence of traction sheave P.C.D. difference on sheave and rope.
