Abstract

In the elevator installed in a high-rise building, the natural vibration of a building is more closer to the rope an elevator for a skyscraper. A building sway caused by the long-period ground motion or a strong wind makes the ropes of an elevator resonate and the rope contact to or connection to the apparatus attached to the wall of the hoist-way. This paper will introduce the method of the building sway transmitting to the rope deflection. The building sway in which an elevator is installed is always observed, and optimal operation is performed, securing safety from the length of the rope which can be found from the amount of building sway, and the cage position of an elevator using the technology of presuming the amount of rope deflections.
