Abstract
Ropes of an elevator for a tower building can be excited forcibly by the sway of the building caused by wind forces or long-period ground motion. The protection measures, such as the vibration suppressor are required to take in the elevator shaft for protecting the rope from hitting or catching on the devices of elevator. In order to determine effect of the protection measure, and to verify strength of suppressor against collision with the rope, it is necessary to estimate the impact force and the behavior of the rope in collision. In this report, we improved a rope simulation model constructed by multi-degree of freedom to be able to simulate collision of a rope with a protective part.
