Abstract
In Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, escalator body fall accidents have occurred. In commercial facilities, four escalators have fallen. In general, escalators are set into building with either bottom or upper non-fixed style in order not to restrict the escalator deformation. In non-fixed side, escalator is supported by the L-form board and hanging to the beam of building. Therefore, it is thought that escalator came off from the beam of the building by layer deformation with more than expected. It is necessary to clarify the seismic behavior of the escalator to prevent such an accident. From the above-mentioned background, the purpose of this study is to develop the analytical model of the escalator for seismic response analysis. In this paper, the development of analytical model takes the impact with the beam of building and non-linear of the escalator truss into account. In addition, Seismic response analysis is conducted, with escalatoris installed in low-rise building.
