Abstract
Aerodynamic performance characteristics of the HAWT were investigated by the momentum and blade element combination analysis and also combined with the strip element theory, and by scale experiments. In this study, three types of wing section of the blade were examined by a small-scale model with open typed wind tunnel. i.e., NACA44,NACALS04 tapered twist blades, and a two stage pitch angle type tapered blade. The aeronautical characteristics of the HAWT employing the different wing sections were discussed to the relation between tip speed ratio and power and torque coefficients as a parameter of the wing chord, pitch angle and dimensions. Prediction results of aerodynamic characteristics for a large-scale unit are discussed how to be optimized designed parameter acting as significant role.
