Abstract
This paper deals with both the heat transter performance and the flow characteristics of ice-slurry in a curved rectangular duct. A mixture of fine ice particles and ethylene-glycol aqueous solution was adopted as a testing ice-slurry, and it flows through the curved rectangular duct being heated by its convex or concave wall. Experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of velocity of ice-slurry flow on the melting heat transfer characteristics. Form the experimental results, it was found that the heat transfer characteristics on the curved wall of the duct was markedly affected by the latent heat of ice particles in the ice-slurry.
