Abstract
Ethanol/water mixture brine has low viscosity at low temperature and low environmental influence. Therefore it is useful in constructing energy consumption systems and harmless systems to the environment. As for the solidification of this brine, fundamental studies have been performed. These studies show that this brine could make good fluidity slurry-ice at low temperature. An experimental study was performed to obtain cold thermal storage system performances. The ethanol brine used in this test was 30 weight percent and freezing temperature was about -23℃. The cold thermal storage system was consisted an ice maker, 4m^3 storage tank, a frozen food display cabinet, a plate heat exchanger and a cooling unit with a reciprocal two-stage compressor of ammonia refrigerant. As a result, we obtained the solidification and melting process engineering data of the ethanol brine slurry-ice.
