Feasibility of a solar-wind hybrid power generation system in an urban coastal area, in order to construct an environmental symbiotic maritime city, has been investigated by an actual measurement. The research site is situated at Omaehama in Nishinomiya. The solar-wind hybrid power generation system is composed of two solar cells of 128W, two wind turbines of 450W, power controller, DC to AC inverter, and data acquisition unit. The solar cell output and wind turbine output were measured every fifteen minutes. Although the rated power generation of the wind turbine was larger than that of the solar panel, the generated electric power by the PV was larger than that of the wind turbine. The amount of power generation by the solar cell was almost proportional to the quantity of solar insolation. On the other hand, the amount of power generation by the wind turbine did not increase proportionally to the velocity of the wind and has been greatly influenced by the cut-in velocity of the wind turbine.
