Abstract
This paper discussed possible applications of chemical looping method in low temperature. The chemical looping method divides combustion reaction into two gas-solid reactions; oxidation of oxygen-carrier by oxidizer and reduction of oxygen-carrier by fuel. These reactions proceed successively by circulating oxygen-carrier between two reactors. The total of these two reactions is equal to a combustion reaction of fuel. The products are pure N2 from the oxidation reactor, and CO_2 and water from the reduction reactor. This represents that chemical looping method offers the inherent feature of isolating CO_2, avoiding the need for costly separation processes. The purpose of this study shows possible applications of a small-scale system in low temperature utilizing chemical looping method. Effects of temperature on oxidation and reduction reactions of oxygen-carrier by oxidizer and fuel were examined using thermogravimetry.
