Abstract
This study clearly shows that the AMP (Alternative maritime power) system with a gas cogeneration system surpasses the AMP system with an electric power supply network in the way of primary energy consumption and CO_2 emission. Measures have been sought in various fields for realizing the intended target of emission reduction of GHG (greenhouse gas) including CO_2. As well, in the fields of shipping and maritime industries, there has been a growing expectation fo r reducing environmental pollutants, such as the GHG, NOx and SOx from vessels anchored at ports while they carry out cargo operations. Against this backdrop, the introduction of AMP system is now being promoted. The system supplies electric power from shore to ships in ports while their onboard generators are off. This study clearly shows that the AMP system with a gas cogeneration system surpasses the AMP system with an electric power supply network in the way of primary energy consumption and CO_2 emission.
