Abstract
In this report, measurement technique and experimental apparatus for aeroacoustic experiments is explained, focusing on the simultaneous measurement of flow and sound field. In order to understand the generation mechanism of aerodynamic sound, spectrum analysis and sound source identification method of aerodynamic sound are shown by experimental results of the aerodynamic sound radiated from a circular cylinder. The results show that the separating shear layer and its correlation length play an important role in generating aerodynamic sound. Therefore, unsteady motion of separated shear layer is the most important factor in controlling aerodynamic sound. The example of aerodynamic sound control is also shown.
