In order to grasp of the overview on trailing edge noise,a semi-empincal theory is given to the backscattermg model.The broadband noise of the propeller fan with different number of blades was measured by the actual experimental setup.The Schwarzschild's solution was used for the analogy of the trailing edge noise as the pressure fluctuation distribution on the body surface.The aerodynamic noise of the propeller fans was not proportional to the number of blades because the noise level of the propeller fan with the large number of blades in the vicinity of the maximum efficiency point was the smallest.When the operation point was changed to the off-design point,the wake vortex noise in the low frequency domain became the dominant factor.The trailing-edge noise appeared as a good competitor, and certainly contributed to the high-frequency part of the spectrum.
