Abstract
In this study, the results were discussed of experimental investigation of supersonic jet.The jet becomes underexpanded when the pressure ratio exceeds the critical value across the convergent nozzle discharging it.The jet is not uniform because of the presence of the expansion wave, the compression wave and the shock wave formed in it.A vortex is induced in a supersonic filed due to shearing stress generated at the jet boundary. The vortex interacts with a shock composing a cell node of jet, which is closely related to a noise radiating from supersonic flow filed. In this experiment,in order to measure the behavior of jet,the flow filed was visualized and the results were analyzed, and furthermore, the formation of vortex was discussed.
