Abstract
This paper proposes a fast and accurate model for analysis and performance improvement of the Archimedes screw turbine with permanent-magnet synchronous generator. It enables to simulate simplified flow-turbine-generator interactions using hydrostatics model of multiply-connected tank orifice. The model have been validated by experimental and calculated result of moving particle simulation. The design sensitivity analysis was carried out to optimize turbine shape and the result showed the best performance for 87% turbine efficiency and 48% totally efficiency is achievable at inclines of 5 degrees, 3-blades, 0.4 radius ratio, 1.5% clearance ratio and 3.0 gear ratio.
