Abstract
This investigation is to grasp an accurate essence of open type hydraulic turbine for extremely low head hydropower utilization. Though the hydraulic turbine system, in general, might consist of casing and a draft tube for higher efficiency operation, it needs to cut the costs such as construction, running and maintenance for small hydro because low head utilization has small amount of energy. The author focus on open type hydraulic turbine, and then cross-flow type was adopted in this experiment. In this study, it was evaluated the relationship between the blade angle and the power performance. As a result, it was clarified that the optimum blade angle was changed comparing the conventional cross-flow turbine, consisting of casing and guide vane etc. For the open type, the CPmax=0.35 and 0.57 were obtained for undershot and waterfall type, respectively.
