Velocity distribution around straight-bladed vertical-axis wind turbine(VAWT) is measured by Laser Doppler Velocimetry. By the result of measurement, the spanwise distribution of circulation for the rotor blade is estimated. Estimated value of circulation of the VAWT shows highest near the center line, and reduces approaching the blade tip by the influence of tip vortex. In addition, the value circulation depends on the relative angle of attack and the relative wind speed near the center line. These results are useful to develop the method to predict the power of VAWT by correcting the power coefficient obtained from two-dimensional numerical analysis.
