Abstract
A wind turbine generator (WTG) with a power rating of 100kW and a variable pitch control system was developed for isolated islands and built on field test site, Kume-Island, Okinawa, in 2009. In field testing, several typhoons hit the Kume-Islands, however, the WTG didn't have serious damage. In this study, an analysis method of two-dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is described and the computational results are compared with experimental data. Furthermore, WTG performance using the conventional Blade Element Momentum (BEM) theory is calculated and compared with field test results.
