Abstract
The authors have developed the unique wind power unit which is composed of tandem wind rotors and a peculiar type generator with double rotational armatures. This paper discusses turbine performances of the unit with the optimized tandem wind rotors and the doubly fed induction generator, in the field test at the top of a building in Kyushu Institute of Technology. The characteristics of the output can be controlled by adjusting the input to the secondary circuit of the generator. That is, the input frequency must be adjusted in reverse proportion to relative rotational speed of the tandem wind rotor, to keep the induced frequency constant.
