Abstract

We carried out the measurement of surface tension of concentrated particle suspension using tthe filament stretching method. The particle suspension used in this experiment was a mixture of aqueous soolution of sodium of poly-tungstate(SPT) 18wt% and acrylic sphere particles with the mean diameter of 45μm. TThe volume fraction of particles was 50%. At the start-up of flow in the filament stretching device, meniscus of liquidd column was formed. Evaluating the surface tension from the force balance during a flow and meniscus profiles, we found that the surface tension of test fluid was 63.2 × 10-3 N/m.
