Abstract

In experimental studies on particle suspensions, it is important to observe the movement and orientation state of particles in the flow field. However, in high concentrated suspension, the particles themselves become obstacles and it is difficult to directly observe the particles inside the flow. In this study, we propose an observation method using flow forcing device. In this method, particles can be dispersed only in the center of the channel, and it is possible to observe the movement of the particles in a position which is normally difficult to observe. In this report, we confirm the flow field obtained by using this technique, the results of motion observation of particles and the application to the flow field passing through the abrupt contraction and expansion channel , and consider the usefulness of this method.
