Jets from the plasma actuator can be easily observed by Schlieren photography due to the density change. The upstream suction and the jet flow towards downstream of the actuator is clearly visible. We observe the span-wise density variation in the Trefftz plane. When we blow the jet from the upstream, this pattern disappears. We first assume that this density variation is due to the manufacturing non-uniformity of the actuator, but the density pattern is rather regular. So the buoyancy could play an important role in this natural convection, and the regular density variation could be an array of the longitudinal vortices.
