Abstract
The engineering problems which are related to fluid mechanics are major for snow and ice in cold regions such as Hokkaido. For example, the galloping phenomenon of the electric cables and blowing-snow are generated by the wind force. This review is described some problems of fluid mechanics concerning snow and ice as follows: (1) the galloping phenomenon by the adhering ice and snow of electric cable, (2) the blowing-snow and countermeasure, (3) the adhering ice and snow of traffic vehicle, (4) the wind tunnel test concerning ice and snow and (5) the numerical simulation method of blowing-snow.
