Contact pressure between an inkribbon and a thermal head of a thermal transfer printer has been analyzed. Viscoelastic properties of the ink were measured with a rheometer for calculation of the contact pressure. The contact pressure acting on the thermal head was calculated by FEM. In calculation the viscoelastic properties and moving velocity of the thermal thead were changed and their effects on the contact pressure were examined.
