In this paper, I present results from spatial direct numerical simulation (DNS) of goertler instability in incompressible boundary layers using a fringe region. The numerical method is similar to the Fourier-Chebyshev method used by Kim et al. (1987). I used a Fourier Galerkin method in both the streamwise and spanwise directions, and a Chebyshev Collocation method in the wall-normal direction. For the case of primary instability stage, the spatial DNS results are in very good agreement with the linear parabolized stability equations results. For the case of secondary instability stage, spatial DNS and secondary linear instability theory results show the sinuous mode is dominant mode in the flow.
