In order to evaluate hardness of a knife edge of swords, the damping hardness of a vegetable knife made of steel was investigated by Herbert pendulum type hardness test. Herbert pendulum stably swung on the knife edge of the vegetable knife without falling. Reasonable damping hardness of the knife edge of the vegetable knife can be obtained, although a knife edge is special shape as specimen. Therefore, hardness of a knife edge of swords can be evaluated with the damping hardness reasonably.
