Abstract
We pursue the development of new grinding wheel and manufacturing technology grinding wheels using twin nozzle PELID. Using the PELID technology, I fabricated the fiber by mixing phenol resin with ethyl cellulose. As a result of observing the fiber with SEM, that’s diameter was about 3 micrometers. And put the fiber in mold, I fabricated grinding wheels contained abrasive grain. Thereafter, it was fired. By raising the temperature gradually, we succeeded in making fibers containing abrasive grains without breaking the fiber. Furthermore, in order to investigate the characteristics of the fiber grinding wheels, we was conducted processing experiment. We ground cemented carbide using a fiber grinding wheels for the experiments. As a result, it was found that the fiber grinding wheels removes about 3 micrometers and processes with a surface roughness of 3 nanometers. This can be expected that the fiber grinding wheels have grinding ability and high quality processing.
