The unique aspect of the current series of experiments is that they seek to determine the geometric and flow conditions under which the condensation events can be induced in a controlled manner. As noted, initial success has been achieved, however further experimental studies which sought to optimize pulser flow geometry and to expand the range of operating conditions, have shown that trace amount of non-condensable gas have a larger effect on the initiation of a controlled condensation implosion event then was initially assumed. This has led to complications in the conduction of the experiments because presently the LEI Pulser test facility is not equipped with instrumentation to measure trace amounts of non-condensable gas. This paper provides an overview of the experiments that have been carried out to date.
