PSRD is an innovative small sized PWR adopting natural circulation and self-pressurization in the primary loop with a thermal output 100MW. In the present paper, performance of the reactor system responding to the load change has been studied using RELAP5 code. To clarify the inherent controllability, the response of reactor system without the automatic control system has been analyzed for the typical load change. The result shows that it can smoothly respond to the load change without a scram. According to a boron mixing in the primary coolant, effect of the moderator density reactivity coefficient (MDRC) on the performance has been analyzed. Significantly small MDRC is revealed to result in occurrence of the scram.
