Abstract
To clarify the phenomenon in the welded pool during laser welding processes, we have carried out in-situ and real time X-ray imaging of inside materials during laser welding. An air-cooled continuous wave (CW) fiber laser was used for welding. When the laser beam was irradiated on Al or SUS316 sample, heating and cooling processes were successfully observed using an X-ray absorption contrast technique. A liquid-solid interface and bubbles formed on the sample surface were clearly observed.
