Abstract
Coal washing process in an important clean coal technology, but the coal-washery sludge left after washing process will require large dumping sites, which may cause significant economic and environmental problems. Most studies were concentrated on the utilization of coal sludge containing higher ash and lower calorific value. In this study, based on the coal sludge quality analysis, Safety and economical efficiency analysis were accomplished for a 230t/h pulverized coal boiler firing coal sludge, as well as boiler auxiliary unit capability check. Reasonable burner retrofitting project was put into practice to promote ignition and stable combustion of coal sludge. The successful progress of firing coal sludge was achieved by means of adjusting air volume, coal powder fineness and other operation parameters, and the handling capacity of coal sludge could reach 29×(10)^4 tons every year. The economic and social benefits are remarkable after firing coal sludge.
