We proposed a simple disk spindle assembly supported by a full cylindrical fluid journal bearing at the top of shaft and a spherical grooved pivot bearing at the bottom of shaft and made clear that the gyro effect can make this spindle stable. In this study we manufactured three prototypes of the disk spindle composed of two 3.5 inch disk platters, a full cylindrical journal fluid bearing and a spherical grooved pivot bearing. Then we measured radial vibration and axial vibration at rotational speed up to 9150 rpm. We found that the amplitude of half frequency whirl is about 30nm. We also evaluated the NRRO and bearing stiffness to unbalance force.
