For increasing HDD storage density,it is necessary to suppress the high-frequency external vibration of HDD case to enhance the head positioning accuracy. So this paper examines the external vibration isolation of the 2.5 inch HDD in the case of 3.5 inch HDD size by using passive/active mounts.First, external vibration is absorbed by passive mounts connecting HDD and outside case. Then the vibration suppression is enhanced by active control using active mount. Finally, the vibration control performance is evaluated by finite element simulation,in which the location of active mount is optimized by applying particle swam optimization.
