Abstract

To examine thermo-molecular gas film lubrication (t-MGL: thermo-Molecular Gas-film Lubrication) characteristics with nonuniform temperature distributions at the disk or slider surfaces at flying height less than several tens nanometers, we proposed the quasi-free-molecular t-MGL (t-MGLqfm) equation, which has the gas temperature in the free molecular limit defined by temperatures and accommodation coefficients of the disk and slider. Moreover, the influence of accommodation coefficients of the proposed t-MGLqfm equation was analyzed i) by comparing with the free molecular t-MGL (t-MGLfm) equation, ii) by introducing the Green function method and iii) by analyzing dynamic characteristics in an infinite bearing number approximation.
