Hard disk lubricant plays an important role in the head-disk interface and has a great influence on the reliability of the hard disk. And, heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) was established to obtain higher recording density. The lubricating film on the hard disk should be stable all tribological properties in order to establish HAMR. However, there are problems that laser irradiation evaporates the lubrication film and transfers it to the magnetic head. In this paper, we analyzed the head smear that transfers from tha lubricant film by TOF - SIMS and investigated the mechanism of lubricant decomposition and transfer to the head.
