A new continuously variable transmission for helicopter, the PCVT(pericyclic continuously variable transmission ), based on a pericyclic gear train, is presented. The basic construction and the principle of the continuously variable transmission are introduced. The kinematic analysis of the PCVT is developed. A preliminary design analysis of the PCVT system is conducted. Based on the bond graph theory, the bond graph model of the PCVT is built, the state equations of the system is developed and dynamic simulation analysis is carried out. The effect on system dynamic property is analyzed via analysis of system parametric variation.
The investigation results provide the theoretical basis and technical support for the further research on the helicopter continuously variable transmission.
