A pulse modulated driving voltage of surface acoustic wave (SAW) excites altemative shear force on the surface of SAW substrate with modulation frequency control. The force can be perceived as tactile sensation at mechanoreceptors in the finger skin. A SAW tactile display unit was installed on a computer mouse button. Reproduction of human tactile sensation was demonstrated using a computer and the mouse.
