Abstract
Dynamic tension tests as well as quasi-static tension tests were performed to investigate mechanical behavior of steels and aluminum alloys on TS-2000, a High Speed Material Testing System based on the Sensing Block Method. TS-2000 is a compact material testing system which enables both compression and tension tests of materials to be conducted in the wide range of strain rates from quasi-static rates (10^<-2>s^<-1>) to dynamic strain rates (10^3s^<-1>). From the obtained experimental results, the strain rate sensitivities of flow stress, of maximum elongation and of others, for steels and aluminum alloys, respectively, are comparatively studied and discussed.
