Abstract
In the study the ability of materials for protection against impact load by a cutlery such as nife or ice pick was measured by a proposed procedure. In the test elastic wave in the cutlery was measured by a couple of strain gage and the change of acceleration and displacement were also monitored during the test. Absorbed energy calculated as an area under a load-displacement relation was compared with different materials and was proved to be an index to evaluate the ability for protection against impact load by a cutlery.
