AFJ cementless stem and AFJ interchangeable neck have been developed in order to adjust various degrees of anatomical deformities of the proximal femur. When the interchangeable neck is applied in total hip arthroplasty (THA), the stress distribution of the implanted femur is changed. In this study, as the anteversion of the implant was changed, strains on the femur were measured by using strain gauges. Results show that the increase of strain was not conspicuous when the retroverted neck is attached due to the existence of lesser trochanter. We can conclude that AFJ interchangeable neck is effective to cure excessively anteverted femur.
