An investigation has been carried out concerning the influence of water absorption on impact fracture behavior of CFRP/aramid honeycomb core sandwich panel. Some specimens were manufactured by hotpress molding method, and others by autoclave molding method. Low velocity impact tests were conducted using a falling-weight testing device. The material has a threshold impact energy, below which no damage of honeycomb core is introduced; the threshold energy of specimen manufactured by autoclave is higher than that by hotpress, and that of wet specimen is higher than dry specimen. The residual strength after the impact test was evaluated by a compression test. The influence of water absorption and impact on compression fracture behavior was discussed.
