Measurements of electron temperatures and shock velocities were carried out, for the electromagnetic T-shaped shock tube with low pressure argon test gas. The electron temperatures were obtained from the relative intensities of six spectral lines of Ar II, and the shock velocities by the high-speed streak pictures and also by an array of ten PIN-photo-diodes. It is found that the electron temperatures range from 1.5×10^4K to 2.2×10^4K, and the shock velocities from 3×10^3m/s to 1.3×10^4m/s, depending on the initial gas pressure and the discharge voltage.
