Abstract
Recently welding technology is developed and used extensively from the advantage that it can be reduced the production cost and the strength can be trusted in the manufacture process of body of the car. So, it is very important to understand the properties of welded materials. Dynamic tensile tests at high strain rate of about 1200/s as well as quasi-static tensile tests were performed to investigate the tensile property of welded steel by using a non-coaxal split-Hopkinson bar and High Speed Material System Based on Sensing Block Method (TS-2000). From the obtained experimental results, the strength of the welded part increases remarkably as compared with that of non-welded part. The strain rates sensitivities of the strength of welded steel was smaller than those of the non-welded part. It was also found that breaking strains of the welded specimens become smaller than those of the non-welded specimens in the range of tested strain rates.
