Study on Preventing Methods of Seizure in a Circular Thrust Bearing under Heavy Loading

Abstract

This paper describes the effect of surface texturing on seizure in a trust sliding bearing under heavy loading The follower flat surface on test disk was dented by a Vidkers hardness indentor. the result of scuffing time of the dented surface is compared with that of the flat surface. It is confimed that lubricating oil included in the produced micro dents seeps out between contact surfaces by thermal expansion to prevent the seizure successfuly
