With rapid advances in technology of industry, rotating machinery tend to be more large in size and capacity, high speed, and high performance. These advances have happened to occur the many vibration troubles on rotating machineries. Especially in recent year, the radial clearance between rotating shaft and casing come to smaller to get higher performance of the machines. As a result, severe vibration occur on the rotating shaft accidentally(self-excited, sub(super) harmonic, etc...), when shaft contact with casing. Such problems dose not yet solved enough due to the complexity of the rubbing-contact and the collision mechanisms. This paper deals with the vibration behavior of the rotating shaft due to contact with casing(especially sub-harmonic vibration on high speed), theoretically and experimentally.
