Abstract
Due to discontinuity of atomic structure, surface and interface have highly localiged surface/interface energy. These inherent high energy states effect the strength properties of material with small size. Precise dynamical equilibrium equations on surface and interface are derived from discontinuity condition, and a expression of the principle of the principle of virtual work is formulated by FEM to estimate the mechnical behaviors of the materials with surface and interface.
