Abstract
This paper describes an experimental study on the effect of texturing on tribological characteristics of metal surfaces in lubricated sliding contacts. The experiments were performed on a slider-disc test machine. Slider specimens made of brass have micro grooves parallel to the sliding direction. They are pressed on a cast iron rotating disc by stepwise loading. The width ratio of groove to land, and the depth of groove were fixed at given values, and the pitch and the widths of grooves were varied. The result shows that, if the grooves exist, the severe wear happens but scuffing does not happen at once after specimens contact the disc.
