Digital archiving of graphic art works can significantly contribute to the conservation of these cultural heritage items. Scanner is suitable device to get digital image of graphic art works. The final purpose of this study is development of large high precision scanner system. In this paper, the relation between color information and its material are investigated as the first step of this study. Color information of an object has a lot of information, especially about material. Color information can be shown by spectral reflectance. Spectral reflectance is measured by spectrophotometer and the relation between spectral reflectance and its main component are investigated. The result is as follows. Objects that have same main component show same spectral shape. As the grain size of the object is small, spectral intensity rises.
