This study describes the method to identify coupling loss factor (CLF) for statistical energy analysis (SEA) by using the modal parameter of structures. It is well known that CLF is influenced by structure shape and damping; however, only connection length, thickness and area can be taken into account in the conventional theoretical formula. In this paper, therefore, the revised theoretical formula for CLF estimation based on structural modal parameters is proposed to further consider additional structural features in the simulation. The proposed method is subsequently validated using FEM simulation, which showed its effectiveness and significance over the conventional method.
